Jieshou Campus Library (Before the construction)

History

Air Force Institute of Technology Library was merged by Air Force Mechanical School and Air Force Communication & Electronics School libraries. The original “Communication & Electronics School Library" was the Jieshou (First) Campus Library; the "Mechanical School Library" was the Julun (second) campus library. In 1937, the government set up a training course for communication personnel at the Hangzhou Central Aviation School. In 1941, it was moved to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and changed its name to the Air Force Communications Training Course. In 1944, Air Force Communications School was established. The school set up a library under the Compilation Division; in 1949, it moved to Gangshan, Kaohsiung, and set up a library under the Academic Affairs Section. Due to the Air Force Communication & Electronics equipment advanced and expanded the educational field, it was renamed Air Force Communications School in 1957. The new library was built in 1987. The total floor area of the building was 3,198 square meters, and it was opened on August 12th, 1993.

History

In 2003, in order to improve the efficiency of library services and increase the floor area of the library, the construction plan was included in the five-year investment project of the school in 2003. The construction investment was implemented in 2008. The total investment completed in 2008, and the amount for the whole construction was more than NT$ 19 million. It provided a better environment for all faculties and students to learn and read.

The top floor of library is a steel structure shelter design. The booklike appearance of the library presents the reading culture. The library was written Dr. Sun, Yet-Sen‘s motto on the right side: the effort to learn for the country. The motto encouraged all the faculties and students to work hard in research and diligent in learning, to explore bravely and be good at innovation. The entrance of the first floor has the school badge installed. It is used to inspire all faculties and students to love school as family and to promote the belief that “Today I am proud of the school, the school will be proud of me in the future."

 

Julun Campus Library (After the construction)

History

Air Force Institute of Technology Library was merged by Air Force Mechanical School and Air Force Communication & Electronics School libraries. The original "Communication & Electronics School Library" was the Jieshou (First) Campus Library; the "Mechanical School Library" was the Julun (second) campus library. In 1949, Air Force Mechanical School moved from Chengdu, Sichuan Province to Gangshan, Kaohsiung. The old library of the school (Zhongzheng Library) was donated by the alumni of the school in 1956. The library had been utilized more than 40 years when the two schools were merged in 1996. In order to improve the efficiency of library services, it was included in the five-year investment project of the school in 1998. A new digital library was built on the right side of the administrative center at Julun Campus. The total investment amount of the new library was more than NT$ 80 million, and the total floor area of the building is 4,586 square meters. The new library was opened on December 8th, 2003.
